Meet Dr. Roger Matthews

I grew up in Boulder, Colorado, where the Front Range mountains and an active lifestyle introduced me early to the benefits of movement. From childhood, my parents had me scrambling up the Flatirons, backpacking to alpine lakes, and running the Bolder Boulder.

As a lifelong athlete—through team sports, running, and bicycle racing—I came to see daily motion as the foundation of my health. Along the way, injuries gave me a firsthand look at the patient’s perspective, teaching me how confusing and frustrating today’s healthcare system can feel.

For the past 25 years I have been involved closely with several search and rescue teams. Rescuing injured adventurers in the backcountry as a long time member of Park County Search and Rescue, finding lost persons with my dog as a wilderness canine handler, and deploying alongside a highly skilled team to national disasters with Colorado Task Force - One. I love the fulfillment of volunteering in my community and continue to embrace the challenges of providing medical care in austere environments.

At Highpoint Direct Care, our goal is to offer an experience that’s different: unhurried, personal, and focused on your unique needs. Your care should not be limited by an insurance plan or a membership card. I believe a physician should be both relatable and committed to staying current with medical evidence—while also recognizing that each person’s care must be tailored to who they are, not just to what studies say.

I hope to keep adventuring, learning, and practicing medicine for as long as I can—and I look forward to walking alongside my patients as part of that journey.

Meet Dr. Teddy Bross

While growing up and obtaining an education in Ohio, I cultivated a love for mountains while working summers on a remote ranch in Wyoming. I transitioned these skills into a passionate career in family medicine while maintaining my love for the outdoors and competition by racing mountain ultra trail events.

I love focused projects, like route scouting and logistical planning for my completion of the Nolan’s Fourteen route in the Sawatch Mountain range (a hundred-ish mile span over fourteen, fourteen-thousand foot peaks). I also built my own indoor Finnish-style sauna in my basement completing everything from drywall demolition to a tongue-in-groove cedar finish.

My wife Hailey and had our first kiddo in October (2025) and honestly, I cannot explain the joy I feel entering fatherhood. Talk about a “focused project!” I take great delight in small natural wonders like the smell of lilacs in spring and the rich hues of a sunrise along the creek path. Is there a better way to explore than with the curiosity of a child?

I have deep interest in partnering with patients to achieve quality of life goals as well as optimizing performance for those driven in competition. I believe heavily in empowering patients to make informed decisions. I take great care to emphasize the need for individual care in this world of generalized recommendations obscuring health care from untrained and biased professionals. I deeply believe one benefit of being a physician is my ability to help others navigate what has become a complex medical system. Together, let’s make this world make sense!

We love living an active life.

Pushing the limits

Sporting events and mountain summits are healthy ways for us to move and test ourselves at any age, but you don’t need to sign up for a sanctioned event or climb a fourteener to experience the benefits of a challenge. Creating our own personal goals and engaging in social play help us cope with stress while building strong bodies - yes going for a hike or ski but also dancing, board games and cultural gatherings. Competition, used broadly, is an innate and valuable part of being alive. We celebrate achievements and love learning how to become the best versions of us and pushing our own (and others’) limits!

Strong for every day living

We’ve found that if your medical provider doesn’t understand how important movement is for your personal wellness, they simply cannot partner optimally with you. When we stop moving, we stop living. Our bodies are meant to be used and we can help prevent damage by holding onto muscle, balance, and flexibility while focusing on mental and emotional tools to keep our minds healthy too! Let us help you experience another version of care that’s tailored to you and your needs.
